Question 1

Why does a naive sed regex fail when sanitizing Mosquitto mosquitto.conf and aclfile bundles?

Accepted Answer

Mosquitto broker configurations combine multi-line bridge blocks (address, remote_username, remote_password, bridge_psk), colon-delimited $7$ PBKDF2 password hashes, and hierarchical MQTT topic ACL patterns containing +, #, %u, and %c tokens. A naive sed replacement frequently misses bridge_psk hex keys or corrupts topic wildcards. MosquittoAclShield parses each directive in browser RAM.

Question 2

What credentials are exposed in raw Mosquitto mosquitto.conf, passwd, and dynamic-security.json files?

Accepted Answer

Raw Mosquitto configurations contain plaintext upstream broker passwords (remote_password), TLS pre-shared keys (bridge_psk and pskfile), PBKDF2-SHA512 password hashes ($7$101$...), internal broker listener IPs, and customer tenant identifiers inside ACL topic trees.

Question 3

How do I sanitize Mosquitto MQTT configs before pasting them into Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor?

Accepted Answer

Paste your mosquitto.conf, passwd, or aclfile snippet into MosquittoAclShield. Within 50ms in local browser RAM, all bridge passwords, PSKs, and $7$ PBKDF2 hashes are scrubbed and broker IPs are mapped to RFC 5737 test addresses while preserving listener and topic ACL syntax.

Question 4

Does MosquittoAclShield upload my IoT broker configurations or password hashes to any server?

Accepted Answer

Never. MosquittoAclShield executes 100% inside your browser's local RAM with zero network egress. Your MQTT bridge secrets, TLS PSKs, and IoT topic hierarchies never leave your device, aligning with IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-53, and SOC2 Type II mandates.

Question 5

How does MosquittoAclShield compare to HiveMQ / Cedalo management suites ($49/mo) or CyberChef?

Accepted Answer

Commercial MQTT management suites charge $49/mo+ ($588/yr) and require connecting your broker to the cloud, while generic CyberChef regexes lack Mosquitto directive and MQTT topic wildcard awareness. MosquittoAclShield is a dedicated local sanitizer for a $19 one-time buyout or €3.99 24h pass.

Question 6

What is included in the $19 Lifetime PRO Offline Workstation?

Accepted Answer

Unlocking PRO removes the 30% preview blur on bottom ACL and bridge rules, enables multi-file /etc/mosquitto/conf.d/*.conf + dynamic-security.json batch scrubbing, and delivers a self-contained air-gapped HTML workstation with a 14-day refund guarantee.
